Eames inspiration from a penthouse apartment in Malmo
This apartment in Western Harbour, Malmo, Sweden is currently on the market for about $1.2m and is located on the 8th floor of a waterfront building with great views of the ocean and surrounding areas. The apartment is 134 sqm with a large outdoor patio area that faces the harbour. The owners have decorated the apartment with lots of classic mid-century designer furniture from Eames, Hans Wegner and George Nelson. Together with lots of traditionally Swedish monochrome artwork, white walls and wooden floors the home is beautifully light and inviting.
The loungeroom has a modern lounge with an Eames Lounge Chair and LCW chair to add some designer style. We like the use of the ottoman as a separate chair - nice touch.
The Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs in black contrast with the natural wood trestle table and white kitchen cabinetry. The George Nelson Sunburst clock adds some colour to the white walls - another clever touch.
We like the pair of Eames coffee tables and rocking chair in the informal living area and look great with the grey rug. Very stylish artwork too to complement the furnishings.
To continue the theme, a plain white trestle table is combined with a white Eames Eiffel armchair.
At night, it looks even better. Would be a fantastic spot to kick back and enjoy the view on a long Swedish winter night.
What an amazing view of the bridge from West Harbour in the evening light
Only the iconic 'Torso' building is higher than the 8th floor balcony
